Welcome to Clay, Wood, Paper

I make functional stoneware pottery decorated with sgraffito and mishima designs and a line of blue glazed ware. All the work is functional but I want to show that function and art are not mutually exclusive. My work is affordable and intended for everyday use but still artistic.

My pieces include mugs, dinnerware, tea sets, service pieces, and knitting bowls. Each piece is handmade, one at a time, using traditional methods, and decorated with designs inspired by nature. Click here for pictures of Sgraffito and Mishima and here for the Ash Blue work.

Although I work primarily in clay, I have other pieces combining wood and clay and greeting cards

  1. Susan has made the pottery trophies for our Club’s (Western Carolina Dog Fanciers Assoc.) Dog Show & Rally and Obedience Trials for the past two years. Her pottery is loved by class winners and cub sponsors alike. She is so talented.

  2. Hi Susan, I met you lay month at Sw Pottery studio. Will you be in your studio this weekend? I’m visiting again from Florida.
    Thank you
